The Fiber Fest & Spin-In began in 2004 as a one-day event. It has now grown to three days with entertainment, vendors, and demonstrations devoted to the fiber arts.

Over 25 classes are being offered. Deadline to register for classes is Thursday, March 1.

Educational Day on Friday, March 9 from 9am-2pm, admission $1.

Free and open to the public on Saturday, March 10 from 9am-4pm.

Fiber Fest & Spin-In at Jay County Fairgrounds March 8-10

A fiber fest is taking place in Jay County for the third year in a row. The Fiber Fest & Spin-In began in 2004 as a one-day event. It has now grown to three days of classes, entertainment, vendors, and demonstrations devoted to the fiber arts.

With the support of the Jay County Visitor and Tourism Bureau and Teasel Hill Angoras, fiber crafters will have the opportunity to gather March 8-10 at the Jay County Fairgrounds, 806 East Votaw Street in Portland, Indiana.

Friday, March 9 is Educational Day from 9am-2pm. Students and visitors will have the opportunity to discover how fabric is made, beginning with the animals themselves. There will be demonstrations, hands-on activities, and live animals. Admission is $1.

Classes are being held on Thursday evening, Friday afternoon and evening, and Saturday. Over 25 classes are being offered, including Beginning Spinning, Using a Drop Spindle, Raggy Shaggy Quilting, Introduction to Wetfelting, and many more. The deadline to register is Thursday, March 1. The Fiber Fest & Spin-In is open to the public on Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with free admission. Entertainment will be provided by Faere Wyndes, a Celtic group made up of students and an instructor from Arts Place; The Limberlost String Band, a group of bluegrass musicians from the Geneva area; and the Melody Makers of Indiana, a 4-H Homemakers Extension chorus.
