Portland Artist Creates Pottery, Paintings and
Sculpture
Portland, Indiana artist Zach Medler is an artist of
many hats. What began as an interest in pottery has
blossomed into a career in the visual arts. He stays
busy creating pottery, paintings and sculpture;
showing his work regionally; and serves as Artist in
Residence and an instructor for the Innovations and
Arts in the Parks programs at Arts Place.
Medler’s work has
been on display recently in the 40th Mid-States
Craft Exhibition at the Evansville Museum, the 109th
Annual Juried Exhibition at the Richmond Art Museum,
the Holiday Show 2007 at Arts Place’s Collective
Center in St. Marys, the Seventh Harvest Biennial at
Arts Place’s Portland Center, and other venues
throughout Indiana and Ohio.
An instructor since
2004, the artist is available to teach workshops and
classes, individual instruction, and private or
public commission work. Medler’s work can be
purchased at Medler Furniture in Portland. For more

Medler is hosting a
Studio Open House at his home and studio on December
8 from 4:00–8:00 p.m. Come for, and invite your
friends to, a casual evening of art, drinks and
appetizers. The public is welcome to attend. All
artwork in the house will be for sale including
pottery, paintings, and sculpture.
