Performance Time: 7:30 pm

Now in his fourth season as the Artistic Director of the Muncie Symphony Orchestra, Czech conductor Bohuslav Rattay continues to astound and delight audiences the world over with his fresh and inspired interpretations of works ranging from perennial concert-hall favorites to the contemporary. Acclaimed for his insightful performances of the music of his native Bohemia, Mr. Rattay is a popular guest conductor, with recent engagements including the Virginia Symphony, Prague's Dvorak Symphony Orchestra, and the Charleston (SC) Symphony, where he received critical accolades for a "vibrant" performance delivered with "elegant panache."

Driven by a particular passion for making classical music accessible to people from all walks of life, Mr. Rattay is renowned for his unique and innovative concert programs, which have incorporated everything from special audience discussions to the inclusion of multi-media elements. Most recently, Rattay oversaw the production of the Muncie Symphony Orchestra's premier recording venture: a collaboration with jazz vocalist Jackie Allen in celebration of the orchestra's 60th anniversary season.  More information is available at www.munciesymphony.org.

Robin and Linda Williams are like your next door neighbors — assuming your neighbors are the salt-of-the earth and top-flight performers to boot. One minute you picture borrowing a cup of sugar from these two; the next, you’re completely stunned by their jaw-dropping talent. Bottom line: You feel right at home at a Robin and Linda concert, and their music stays with you like an old friend.

Favorites of fans and promoters alike, they have crisscrossed the continent (and beyond) for more than three decades, performing the tunes they love — a hearty blend of bluegrass, folk, old-time and acoustic country.  From The Grand Ole Opry to Austin City Limits, Music City Tonight to Mountain Stage, clubs, festivals and countless other venues, Robin and Linda never cease to wow audiences wherever they go.  Find out more at www.robinandlinda.com.

“Robin and Linda have a sort of kryptonite bond with the audience so that nothing can come between them and us…Individually, their voices can melt cheese, and in duet, they can do all-purpose welding.”
-- Garrison Keillor, host of A Prairie Home Companion

“This is the real deal, the kind of heartfelt, genuine musical performance that built the foundation of all country and bluegrass music decades ago…”
-- David McCarty, Bluegrass Unlimited

Made up of third generation Acadians living separate but parallel musical experiences, twin sisters Pastelle and Emmanuelle LeBlanc from Prince Edward Island, Canada have teamed up with Pascal Miousse and Louis-Charles Vigneau from the nearby Magdelene Islands to create a sound that incorporates elements of the new ways while retaining and staying true to the essential Acadian spirit of their roots.

The sound is essentially Celtic but with a difference. The songs are French, sung by each band member, alone or in four part harmony. The foot percussion drives the rhythm in a fiddle tune at times yet refrains itself in the gentler musical moments. The band members are accomplished multi-instrumentalists and step-dancers incorporating the fiddle, guitar, accordion, penny-whistle, banjo, mandolin, piano, jaw-harp and bodhran into each performance. They are surely making their mark in the world today as their musical maturity comes through to captivate audiences wherever they play.  More information about the artists can be found at www.vishten.net.

-Pittsburg Irish Festival
